The Pentagon has announced heavy fighting in Ukraine this spring and summer, but the US and partners will provide support, in particular on the supply of ammunition.
Brigadier General Pat Ryder said this during a briefing, according to the Pentagon press service.
“I think it’s also important to take a step back and look at the progress that has been made, while being aware of the fact that there is still an uphill battle ahead, especially as we enter spring and summer,” he said.
He stated that military assistance to Ukraine is in the spotlight, especially the issue of the supply of shells.
“We continue to do our best to meet the needs of Ukraine, whether it be ammunition, air defense, armored vehicles. Tomorrow’s discussion will be another opportunity to bring together the international community to focus on Ukraine’s most urgent needs, including ammunition. And again, this will remain in the center of our attention,” Ryder said.
Tomorrow at the Pentagon, Secretary of State Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Milley will convene the 10th meeting of the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group online.
The meeting “will allow the Secretary of State, the Chairman and top defense officials from around the world to discuss ongoing efforts to provide Ukraine with the tools and resources it needs to defend against Russian aggression,” he said.
