Flight disruptions likely after storms prompt ground stop at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Ohio, US, late Aug. 23.

Flight delays and cancellations are likely at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) after thunderstorms prompted the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to issue a ground stop as of late Aug. 23. The ground stop is in effect at CLE until at least 23:45 Aug. 23. Departure delays are averaging at 103 minutes. The air traffic control measures could be extended or rescinded on short notice.

The FAA may issue additional ground stops and/or ground delay programs for Cleveland-area airports over the coming hours. Lingering flight disruptions are likely into Aug. 24 as CLE clears the backlog of flights.
