The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan welcomes the agreement between Iran and Arabia on the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Tajik Foreign Ministry said in a commentary.
The ministry believes this agreement is an important step towards strengthening stability in the Middle East region, the message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan notes.
Earlier, the authorities of Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed to normalize relations between the two countries, they plan to open embassies within two months.
For several days, Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and his Saudi counterpart have been negotiating in Beijing.
As a result, a tripartite statement was adopted. Tehran and Riyadh agreed to resume diplomatic relations and reopen embassies within a maximum of two months.
As noted in the document, the final agreement on the normalization of relations was reached at the initiative of Chinese President Xi Jinping, as well as through the mediation of Oman and Iraq, which in April 2021 became a negotiating platform for Tehran and Riyadh.
Recall that the attack on the Saudi Arabian embassy in Tehran in 2016 led to the severing of ties with Iran.
